We would like to introduce a case where Hirotech utilized "GT-POWER" and "modeFRONTIER" in the development of automotive exhaust system products. Back pressure and exhaust sound are in a trade-off relationship, and to achieve a high level of balance between these two, we are conducting studies using optimization technology. To improve analysis accuracy, it is necessary to model and analyze the internal structure in detail; however, in that case, even with 1D "GT-POWER," it takes about 20 minutes of computation time per design. [Case Study] Research on LED Heat Dissipation through Industry-Academia Collaboration

It is possible to evaluate the lifespan of LEDs and optimize considering both their lifespan and the cost of the lighting equipment!

We would like to introduce a case where Kitakyushu City University utilized "FloTHERM," "FloTHERM XT," and "modeFRONTIER" for research on LED heat dissipation through industry-academia collaboration. It is often said that the lifespan of an LED can double if the temperature is reduced by 10°C, indicating a close relationship between heat dissipation performance and the lifespan of LED lighting. Therefore, we evaluated the lifespan of LEDs considering the operational conditions of the floodlights and conducted optimization that took both lifespan and the cost of the lighting equipment into account. [Case Study] Development of a General-Purpose Engine

We would like to introduce a case where Honda R&D utilized 'modeFRONTIER' for the development of a general-purpose engine. In the link design of the multi-link high expansion ratio engine "EXlink," there were challenges related to noise and vibration at that time. Additionally, during the same period, a colleague was facing the challenge of balancing cooling performance and noise in a centrifugal fan. [Case Study] Solving Heat Issues for Engine ECUs

In addition to the calculation of contribution rates, many statistical analysis methods such as self-organizing maps are included.

We would like to introduce a case where DENSO utilized "FloTHERM, FloTHERM PCB" and "modeFRONTIER" to solve thermal issues in engine ECUs. Considering wiring patterns and EMC, it is impossible to manually arrange hundreds of components. After introducing "modeFRONTIER," the calculation method in the initial stage does not focus on detailed models; instead, it selects components that have a significant impact on the overall design and boldly omits parts that can be disregarded. Then, aiming for calculations of about 10 minutes per case, approximately 800 optimization calculations are conducted. [Case Study] Model-Based Adaptation Work in Engine Development

A series of tasks necessary for MBC, such as sequential DoE, measurement, sequential modeling, and accuracy verification, have been automated.

We would like to introduce a case where Toyota Motor Corporation utilized "modeFRONTIER for Calibration" (hereafter mFC) in model-based calibration tasks for engine development. To achieve high efficiency, low fuel consumption, and low emission engines, the increasing complexity of engine control systems, including VVT, EGR, turbocharging, and direct injection, necessitates determining optimal control constants while considering constraints and trade-offs such as ride comfort, vibration, and noise. This requires an increase in testing on engines and vehicles, making the reduction of exponentially increasing calibration workload an urgent issue across the industry. Moreover, due to the complexity of the phenomena involved, relying solely on the experience, knowledge, and skills of calibration specialists has its limits in finding suitable calibration values.
